it's been so long since i've written anything on here, i feel like i barely know how to use this site anymore.

but, i came to look at someone else's blog, and realized that the photo of me on here is so old, that i don't even look like that anymore.

so, i'm updating it, just in case anyone ever looks at this page...

update?

i'm married now... looking for a new place to live... cautiously hoping that a reasonable person will become our new president... looking forward to a long weekend in southern cali with girlfriends in nov...mourning the death of my dog a couple of months ago... thinking about careers and businesses... babies?

ok, my resolve to be blogging haven't exactly been strong. holidays and jobs get in the way...

things are going well though. the holidays were nice. this was the first year i'd spent without my parents on christmas, and you know what?

it was awesome. it was great to be more of a guest, and not have to worry about family politics, etc. so nice.

new year's was fun, though not amazing. what's new?

the most exciting thing recently is that we got the first round of protos in for my freelance job. it was SO cool to see the real version of the stuff i'd sketched.

they looked quite good! i had been all worried that they were going to be screwed up, and we have almost NO time for corrections (a month till fashion week!). so i was glad they mostly looked good.

i'm happy to be nearing the tail end of this project. it's been really great experience, and it's all gone quite well, and certainly, i've enjoyed the extra paycheck.

however, i have a wedding that i need to start thinking about, and i'm looking forward to my time being more my own. i can't really plan things in advance right now, because you never know what's going to come up!

so, one more month, and my life is more or less mine again.

we've done a bit of wedding stuff- we have a meeting with the cake people next weekend. we need to tell them which flavors of cakes to make for us to try. yummm...

i bought a dress from ebay, but i'm not convinced it's the right one. i'm going to hold onto it, and keep my eye out for other things.

but the thing i'm most excited about now is that we booked a honeymoon!

we're going here.

oh, and i've been convincing my (out-of-work) finace to apply for jobs in europe. he's on the phone now with a contact in london, and he's applied for jobs in milan and germany :) it's unlikely that those will plan out, but i'd be SO psyched if they did. it would be so cool to start married life by leaving the country!

i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

so, that's the news.

...keep on going...

you know, for a person who lives in new york, and has two jobs, i am actually really bored.

that's the reason that i've decided to start to write again. i don't get much time to myself these days, and taking a few minutes to just write whatever-the-fuck seems luxurious, and selfish.

sorry you all have to bear the brunt of it.

so that's kind of that. my full time job is ok. i've been here abotu 6 months, and that's traditionally when i start thinking.... "ok, this has been fine, now i'd like to do something else". i've started to feel that way a little bit, but thankfully i think that i'll get a new job within this company within a reasonable amount of time, so i think it's worth sticking it out. there are a lot of annoying things about this job, but the larger company is pretty good, and i know there's at least one person who's got their eye on me for bigger and better things.

the freelance job is... a little frustrating these days. i'm working with some clothing designers to design and develop their shoes for their runway show. the design part is over now, now it's just working with the factory to develop the samples.

the problem is that these guys don't actually SELL a lot shoes, so even tho they're hella famous, they're not really the factories most important client, like say.... a chloe, or a chanel. they're more or less the factory's last priority.

so, we haven't seen any samples. they were supposed to ship tomorrow, but i found out yesterday that they won't ship till next friday. the better look motherfucking perfect.

so, it's a little stressful.

it's winter in nyc, and contrary to things you might think, it's not exactly a social whirlwind. although maybe it is, and i've just been working too hard, and being too domestic to notice.

so, that's that.

we're doing some "pre-marital" therapy, which is totally fantastic. we're going tonight for our.... forth or fifth session. out therapist is the bomb. if you need a recommendation for a couples therapist in manhattan, i'll gladly give you her info.

oh, and today i bought what i think might wind up to be my wedding dress!

(thanks to you guys for your help!)

ok, i'm writing again.

this morning, i got on the very packed train, wearing open toed shoes with socks.

my toes got STOMPED on by two full-grown men within 5 minutes of each other. the first time, i was so surprised that i said "ouch!" rather loudly.

in neither case did either of the men apologize.

it's kind of been that kind of day.

--------------

the good news is that i'm not jamie-lynn spears.

-------------

i'm so ready for xmas.

we're going to my parents house on friday. the plan is to eat pizza and decorate the tree. i love this plan.

then we got to boston on sunday to spend the actual holiday with his fam. i've never been with someone else's family on xmas, and i'm psyched about it.

----------

ok, my first re-attempt at blogging was less than thrilling.

but i'm just warming up, i think...
